Polystyrene cement is required for constructing most plastics kits as they are usually made from polystyrene. Tube cements normally contain a filler which bonds to both parts, helps fill the joint and can give added strength.
Liquid cement contains no filler, the solvent dissolving the surface of the parts in contact and welding them together. It usually applied with a brush, with the parts to be joined in loose contact and a drop of glue to the seam. Capillary action takes the glue into the joint and with gentle pressure a good clean joint can be achieved. It will run under finger tips - avoid at all costs.
We recommend Revell Contacta or Humbrol Precision cements for most plastic kits as the fine applicator tube allows very good control over where the glue is applied, plus the container stands upright, helping to avoid accidental leakage or spillage.
