| > Tools and Hardware > Glues and Fillers > Glues for Plastics | Polystyrene cement is required for constructing most plastics kits as they are usually made from polystyrene. Tube cements normally contain a filler which bonds to both parts, helps fill the joint and can give added strength. Liquid cement contains no filler and is usually applied with a brush, the solvent dissolves the surface of the parts in contact and welds them together. We recommend the Revell Contacta or Humbrol Precision cements for most plastic kits as the fine applicator tube allows very good control over where the glue is applied, plus the main body stands upright, helping to avoid accidental leakage or spillage. | Plastruct Plastic Weld Liquid Cement (PW)
Plastic Weld is an extremely useful general purpose plastic adhesive that will bond Styrene, Butyrate, ABS & Acrylic materials. Particularly good for polystyrene sheet and plastruct sections.
Finding a glue for many plastics is a difficult task. Plastic Weld offers a good chance of being able to make that difficult repair!
Unite the parts to be glued, apply Plastic Weld sparingly, allowing capilary action to spread the liquid through the joint. Hold together firmly while the liquid dissolves and unites the surfaces.
Avoid getting surplus glue onto the surface and don't touch such surfaces. The glue would be harmful if swallowed or inhaled so it should only be used by responsible persons. | |
