This is a re-release of the Suzuki RM250, which also originally went on sale back in 1982. By 1982, Suzuki had already built up a long history of competing in the Motocross World Championship, and enjoyed tremendous success with 3 back-to-back 250cc titles from 1970 and 10- in-a-row in the smaller 125cc class from 1975. They also had a long-standing tradition of releasing their championship bikes as production models, and the 1982 version of the RM250 continued in that vein. With Suzuki’s maiden 250cc-class liquid cooled engine providing 43hp, weighing in at a mere 97kg, and employing the Japanese company’s original “full floater” suspension, Suzuki was onto a winner and the bike sold well in countries across the world.
