Operating out of RAF Valley on the island of Anglesey, the display team is the public face of 4 Flying Training school (FTS). The Hawk has been put through its paces throughout the year by Flt. Lt. Jules Fleming, who also performed great displays towards the end of 2010 in the Hawk display aircraft. A highly capable pilot, she flew Tornado GR4s over Afghanistan and Iraq in support of allied operations.

Corgi 1/72 Hawker Hart K2986 600 City of London Sqn RAuxAF January 1935 (AA39601)
Entering service in 1930, the Hawker Hart was possibly the most versatile aircraft of the 'Inter war' period. Designed by Sydney Camm as a two-seat day bomber, it spawned a family of variants that included a fighter, seaplane, reconnaissance aircraft, dive bomber and trainer.
No. 600 (City of London) Squadron RAuxAF was formed at RAF Northolt on 14th October 1925. It moved to RAF Hendon at the end of 1926, replacing its DH.9As, with more modern Westland Wapitis in 1929. It was designated a fighter squadron in July 1934.
K2986 was part of a batch of Harts delivered to 600 Squadron in January 1935, pending the arrival of Hawker Demons. They were distinguished by the squadron's colourful red and white markings worn on the upper wing and fuselage sides. By 1937 the conversion to Demons was complete and K2986 was shipped as SR-4 to the Southern Rhodesian Air Force for use in the advanced training and army-co-operation role.

Corgi 1/72 Short Stirling Mk1 N6086 LS-F MacRoberts Reply 15 Sqn RAF Wyton Oct 1941 Bomber Model (AA39501)
We have obtained a small further supply of this popular model. This long awaited die-cast metal model of the Short Stirling four engined bomber 'MacRobert's Reply' MkI N6086 of 15 Squadron is superb. The aircraft was paid for by a generous ?25,000 donation from Lady Rachel Workman MacRobert, and named in commemoration of her three sons, all of whom were killed whilst serving with the RAF. Entering service at RAF Wyton on the 10th October 1941, the aircraft carried the MacRobert coat of arms on the nose and was given the code LS-F for 'Freddie'. The aircraft flew twelve missions between October before swinging on take-off and colliding with a damaged Spitfire at RAF Peterhead, on the 7th February 1942.

German fighters would wait beyond the range of the Allied fighters and then attack the vulnerable bombers. Once the P-51 called Mustang by the British had the Allison engine replaced with a British Merlin it possessed the high performance that had been lacking. With drop tanks the P-51 had the range to escort bombers all the way to Berlin and back.

Hobby Master 1/48 Boeing 218 (P-12 Prototype) X66W, Feb 1932 "Lt. Robert Short - American Hero For China" (HA7904)
In the early 1930s Boeing developed a series of biplanes designated the F4B for the US Navy and US Marine Corps but was a P-12 for the US Army Air Corps. The aircraft were first accepted in 1929 and served as the primary fighter. The P-12 was built in 6 successful variants while the F4B had 4. The P-12 was replaced by the Boeing P-26 in 1934-35 but the F4B carried on with operational duties until the Grumman F2F/F3F series completely replaced them in 1938.
