Corgi 1/72 Avro Vulcan B2 XM607 RAF 44 Sqn Operation Black Buck Falklands 1982 die-cast model AA27203

Corgi 1/72 Avro Vulcan B2 XM607 RAF 44 Sqn Operation Black Buck Falklands 1982 die-cast model AA27203

In 1982 the Avro Vulcan was being withdrawn from service, however on the 2nd of April Argentine forces invaded the Falkland Islands. The Royal Navy quickly formed a task force to convey and land Royal Marine and British Army units on the islands and, shortly before the naval forces' arrival in the South Atlantic RAF Vulcan bombers mounted Operation Blackbuck to disrupt and deny the Argentinian Air Forces use of the Falkland Islands' only major runway at Port Stanley airport.
Avro Vulcan XM607 took off from Ascension Island on April 30th under the command of Flight Lieutenant Martin Withers as reserve bomber, but pressurisation failure on the primary aircraft saw XM607 set off along with a fleet of Victor tankers for the 15,000km round trip to Port Stanley.

This model has been designed to replicate as closely as possible the condition and configuration of XM607 during the first Blackbuck mission

The Corgi Vulcan model is a large and highly detailed model produced using a combination of plastic and metal materials. The main fuselage is diecast metal, providing a structural spine, while the wings have been modelled in plastic to capture the complex curves and contours of the delta wings and engine intakes.
Model wingspan 472mm (18 1/2in). Supplied with a cradle type display stand and optional landing gear parts allowing for in-flight, gear down or on ground display. Bomb bay doors are movable and can be posed open revealing the load of conventional bombs.

Corgi 1/72 Avro Lancaster Bomber B.III, ED888 PM-M2 Mike Squared RAF No.103 Sqn, Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire, 1944 AA32624

Corgi 1/72 Avro Lancaster Bomber B.III, ED888 PM-M2 Mike Squared RAF No.103 Sqn, Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire, 1944

Aviation Archive Corgi AA32624 1/72nd scale die-cast metal model of Avro Lancaster B.III, ED888, PM-M2, Mike Squared RAF No.103 Sqn, Elsham Wolds, Lincolnshire, 1944. This magnificant aircraft is arguably the best illustration of the Lancaster and Bomber Command's contribution to the war effort. It completed an astonishing 140 bombing missions – the most flown by any Lancaster in WWII.  Known as 'The Mother of Them All', Lancaster ED888 managed to survive the war, shooting down two Luftwaffe fighters in the process and was the most prolific of the ‘Ton-up’ Lancasters. Corgi's Lancasters are always inspiring models and this one was produced as a fitting way to mark the 75th anniversary of the first flight of Avro’s most famous bomber.

Corgi 1/72 SEPECAT Jaguar GR 1a/3 XZ356/EP Mary Rose RAF No.6 Sqn, Gulf War 25th Anniversary AA35414

SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1a/3, XZ356/EP, 'Mary Rose', RAF No.6 Sqn, Gulf War 25th Anniversary
Royal Air Force Jaguars from Coltishall were amongst the first British aircraft to arrive in the Gulf, in support of Operation Granby in 1991.  Wearing the distinctive desert pink camouflage over-wash, a number of the aircraft also benefitted from the addition of individual nose artwork, showcasing the artistic talents of RAF personnel.  Jaguar XZ356/N carried the nose artwork ?Mary Rose?, which included the image of a rather sinister looking sea witch. This aircraft was to see extensive action during her Gulf deployment, completing 33 combat missions against strategic Iraqi military targets.  On return to the UK, XZ356 was yet another RAF Gulf War aircraft present at the 1991 Mildenhall Air Fete.  2016 will see the RAF commemorating the 25th anniversary of their contribution to Operation Granby.

Corgi 1/72 Panavia Tornado GR1 ZA447/EA Mig Eater RAF 15Sqn Gulf War Anniversary Model AA39806

Panavia Tornado GR.1, ZA447/EA, 'MiG Eater', RAF No.15 Sqn, Gulf War 25th Anniversary
The RAF aircraft that took part in the 1991 Gulf War are the subject of great interest and continue to captivate modellers and collectors alike.  Painted in a distinctive desert pink camouflage over-wash, PANAVIA Tornado GR.1 ZA447/EA carries attractive nose art decoration, which was a feature of many of the Gulf War serving RAF aircraft.  Carrying the name ?MiG Eater?, complete with fearsome shark teeth artwork, this aircraft was thought to have destroyed an Iraqi Air Force MiG-29 fighter (hence the name), whilst completing an airfield denial mission, over Iraq. It was later discovered that it was actually a Mirage F.1, but ZA447 was one of the busiest Tornados over the Gulf, completing 40 combat missions for coalition air forces. It later went on to be one of the star exhibits at the 1991 Mildenhall Air Fete.

Corgi 1/72 BAE Hawk Red Arrows Display Team Aircraft Model AA36012

BAE Hawk Red Arrows
Providing advanced pilot and weapons delivery training for a new, or converting student pilot is perhaps one of the most important duties undertaken by any of the world?s air forces.  For Royal Air Force students, this means many hours spent in the cockpit of the British Aerospace Hawk advanced jet trainer, which has now been in service for forty years.  Replacing the diminutive Folland Gnat trainer, the Hawk proved to be a highly adaptable and extremely reliable aircraft in service, with large numbers serving with the RAF and many overseas air forces.  Perhaps the Hawk is most famous for its association with the world famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Display Team, the Red Arrows, who enjoy a reputation for excellence the world over.
