The Crawshay familiy had business interest in a range of companies and activities relating to the iron production, coal and mineral extraction in South Wales and the Forest of Dean. Their wagons carried the produce of their mines and quarries to customers across Britain.

Curved points allow for junctions and crossovers to be placed on the curves at the ends of layout ovals. The curved junction created in the crossover configuration eliminates the reverse curve created by the straight points, making the junction much smoother in appearance and for your trains. Half curve sections ST-227 are used to connect the points and track oval, special straight ST-203 unit may be required to compensate the slightly larger radius of the points' outer curve when rejoining straight track. A tiny can motor mounted in the front of the locomotive has been combined with a chassis designed to maximise the weight available for traction, while keeping the cab windows unobstructed. This provides smooth slow running characteristics and excellent train hauling capabilities, even the test and development model was able to pull 7-coach trains.

The external detailing reaches new standards for N gauge, with separate wire handrails fitted to the cab and bonnet, wire sand pipes and fine guard irons.

D2239 carries the BR rail blue livery with crisply painted warning wasp stripes on the front radiator and cab end.

When the new BR standard design units were built these Gloucester single units were built for the same express parcels services. Allocated to the western region and later the Midland region the parcels units could be operated alone, coupled in multiple with to passenger-carrying diesel units and could also haul one or two parcels vans.

Four versions are being produced to represent these units at different periods of their lives. This model represents one of the units in later years, operating on the Midland region, painted in the standard Rail Blue livery with full yellow ends.

In 1965 7029 Clun Castle worked the last official steam hauled train to leave the GWRs' Paddington station. Clun went on to be the star of the end of GWR steam, hauling many 'end of steam' railtours and fittingly entered preservation.
In the 1960s Clun Castle was a Gloucester engine, a shed that kept its' Castles in superb condition. She entered preservation looking like she was fresh from Swindon works and, after the final end of BR steam has remained active hauling mainline tours and on heritage railways. Returning to the mainline in the 1980s Clun Castle played a major role in the GWR 150 celebrations.

Hornby have chosen to model 7029 in the later BR lined green livery, as she carried while working from Gloucester in the 1960s and in preservation.
