Skytrex O BR 8-Plank 13-Ton Open Wagon (SMR17) Fully assembled model of an 8-plank open coal wagon, representing a 'private owner' wagon taken over by British Railways from traders in 1948. The model has a plastic body with removable load fitted to a chassis with sprung buffers and coupling hook. Painted in BR grey livery.
Horsebox vans were a common sight on Briatins railways until the 1960s. This model kit is the GWR design dating from the 1920s, with a grooms' compartment, large side doors to allow horses to be loaded and unloaded easily and a stowage compartment for fodder.
Equiped with passenger type suspension, vacuum brakes and often steam heating these horseboxes would be conveyed by passenger trains on many branchlines and by secondary trains on the mainline. Long trains of horseboxes were also seen sometimes, especially when a major race meet or polo tournament was imminent!
Parkside Dundas O BR 16T Mineral Wagon Diag 1/108 (PS30) A high quality plastic model kit from Parkside. Several varients of the standard type 16-ton mineral wagon can be constructed from this kit. Over 200,000 were built during the 1950's with many detail variations.
Parkside Dundas O BR 16T Mineral Wagon (Ex SNCF) Diag 1/112 (PS32) A superb kit from Parkside to build the unusual 'SNCF' version of the 16-ton mineral wagon. These wagons were built for use in France in the immediate aftermath of WWII, many being returned to Britain as the SNCF built or aquired new wagons to its own specifications.
Parkside Dundas O GWR 20T Brake Van diag AA19 (PS44) An excellent kit from Parkside for the distinctive GWR 20-ton brake van. A progressive design when first built in this form during the 1920's, the design remained almost unchanged until construction was ended about 1950 in favour of the standard BR type 20-ton brake van. In addition to preserved railways these vans could still be seen on the national network, serving as comfortable mess and tool vans with engineering trains into the 21st century.
