The Tiger 100, the successful representative of the Triumph medium range, was built from 1938 to 1959. It had the parallel twin engine that had characterized development in the British motorcycle industry for a good 3 decades since the thirties. The unexpected but overwhelming acceptance of the two-cylinder concept by motor cyclists was attributable to the high performance of this compact unit, which caused other makers to emulate the Triumph concept. The 2 cylinder, 4 stroke engine of the Triumph Tiger 100 had a capacity of 498 cc and delivered 32 bhp at 6500 rpm. This light 173 kg machine offered a top speed of 155 kph.
