This traditional concept has evolved hugely from Sir Frank Hornby's 1907 brainchild. The original idea remains the same, with nut and bolt style construction, children can build either from structured instructions, or from their own imagination. The parts can then be easily disassembled, and rebuilt into more complex designs as skills develop. Where so many other building systems use predominantly plastic parts, Meccano have managed to retain the quality metal parts which won't wear or break. Now these Meccano sets often come with working electric motors, some even with radio control capability. MECCANO has managed to keep its products developing a century long in order to continually meet children's expectations.
