There are three distinct styles to WBritains Zulu collection; Rorkes Drift, based on the famous action. The Zulu War Osprey Series is inspired by the wonderful art of Angus McBride, featured in Osprey's Men at Arms Zulu War title while the Zulu War Gloss collection is in keeping with popular Redcoats range.
W. Britain, William Britain or simply Britains have been producing toy soldiers and military miniatures since 1893 with attention to detail, quality and authenticity. Each 1/32nd scale (54mm / 2.25" tall) figure is cast from metal and hand-painted to a high standard in a style to suit the period.
WBritain 1/32 Zulu iNdluyengwe Regiment Throwing Spear (20033)
With many of his fellow warriors wiped out by the devastating British fire. Standing
proudly this Zulu warrior dressed in ostrich feather decoration and lepoard skin head band
prepares to throw his spear into the line of soldiers bravely defending the barricades of
Rorke's Drift
At the start of the battle the iNdluyengwe pressed its attack ferociously. From about four hundred yards on, however, the Martini-Henrys of the defenders exacted a devastating toll from the ranks of the attackers. Even so, the Zulus came within fifty yards of the barricades before their charge faltered in the face of the fire from the defenders behind the mealie bag barricade, abetted by a murderous crossfire from both buildings. The Zulus quickly discovered that the lack of cover made this the most dangerous part of the British perimeter to assault. The iNdluyengwe therefore veered to its left, around toward the front of the hospital, where the rocks, brush, and tall grass provided excellent cover, and paused momentarily. The fire of the defenders was so effective that one could trace the path of the iNdluyengwe by the bodies left in its wake
