To mark 50 years from the conversion of the GWR shed at Laira, Plymouth one of the depots' resident First Great Western class 08 shunters 08644 was specially painted in British Rail blue livery with wasp stripe ends and received commemorative nameplates Laira Diesel Depot 50 Years 1962-2012.
Hornby have added this model of Plymouth Laira shed pilot 08644 to their range this year, joining their model of Bristol St Philips Marsh 08822 in First Group blue livery.
