Heljan OO BR Brush Type 4 Prototype 1200 Falcon Blue Weathered Limited Edition (53041)

The release of Heljan's Falcon model presents the locomotive in its' last years of service from the historic Newport locomotive shed. The BR corporate blue livery is very realistically weathered and carries the 'white elephant' logo on one side. This sticker was applied by a depot wag following the loss of one of the Falcon plates. The sticker was not removed after a replacement plate had been fitted and Falcon ran for some time with the elephant's feet sticking out below the plate! Etched nameplates are supplied with the model, so you can recreate this if you wish.

A very popular model on its' first release, the heavy Heljan chassis and motor drive provides excellent haulage capacity and smooth running performance. The bodyshell replicates the original locomotive as accurately as is possible, having been researched from surviving information at Brush. A very high level of detailing has been incorporated, with excellent grille detail and separately fitted handrails.

The BR blue livery weathered badly, especially in the atmosphere created by the coal and steel industries of South Wales. Most western region enthsiasts remember Falcon and indeed many other WR locos in this sort of condition.

Remember! Antics price includes mainland UK delivery for your model of Falcon.

Heljan OO BR D8529 Class 17 Clayton Diesel Locomotive Blue with Full Yellow Ends (17021)

Fitted with new chassis

The class 17 locomotive was designed as the standard BR type 1 low powered diesel locomotive. The centre cab design submitted by Clayton offered good visibility all round the locomotive, required for single manning of the locomotives and the type was ordered. The locomotives proved eventually to have only very short lives, suffering from the rapid decline in local goods trains as BR rationalised its network. The type is fondly remembered for its aesthetically pleasing design, however the need for double heading elimitated the advantages the locomotives had over the more reliable EE class 20.

The unusual design and association with short goods trains running through the scenery of Scotland where many of these locomotives worked have placed the type high on the modellers request lists for many years.

D8512 carries the BR rail blue livery with yellow bonnet ends and double-arrow logos, as seen while in service with the RTC.

Dapol OO BR Class 22 6326 North British Type 2 B-B Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive Split Headcode Boxes BR Blue (D1000A)

The North British 'baby warships' did not enjoy the highest profile of the Western regions' hydraulics, but performed their duties away from the limelight throughout the 1960s. This new, high specification model of the BR class 22 completes one of the missing links in the hydraulic fleet.

The Dapol model represents the later body style with split headcode boxes and will be powered by a flywheel drive mechanism with Dapols' smooth running 'super-creep' motor and 40:1 drive ratio, which has provided excellent slow-speed performance in Dapols' recent N gauge locomotives. The chassis incorporates directional lighting, a 21-pin DCC decoder socket and space for a sound system speaker has been designed into the fuel tank..

Heljan OO BR D5909 Class 23 Baby Deltic Bo-Bo Locomotive Blue Livery Weathered (2307)

A detailed model of the English Electric type 2 Deltic locomotives, known as baby Deltics.

This model of D5909, the last member of the class, is appropriately painted in the BR corporate blue livery with a weathered finish, more typical of locomotives after a period in service.
The model features Heljans' usual diecast chassis, powerful motor and flywheels combination, with drive to all four axles. The detailed bodyshell is completed with factory fitted headstock detailing comprising brake pipes and multiple-working cables.

The 'Baby Deltic' was a partially successful attempt to use the Deltic engine, which was proving highly successful in the class 55 express passenger locomotives, in a smaller locomotive. Built with the typical EE nose end body styling the locomotives quite resembled the larger locomotives. Although the class 23s proved powerful and capable locomotives the Deltic power units were not well suited to the start-stop routine of suburban railway service. A review of locomotive performance by BR as a prelude to concentrating on fewer, more standard locomotive classes under the National Traction Plan brought the Baby Deltics' lives to an end in the early 1970s.

Bachmann OO BR 25231 Class 25/2 Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive Blue Weathered (32-329)

The Derby type 2s spread rapidly across the BR network, displacing steam locomotives from secondary passenger and goods duties. These locomotives developed their own following later in their lives as they were in turn replaced.

25231 is one of the early body style locomotives, modelled in the BR blue era of the 1970s.

Bachmanns Bo-Bo drive mechanism is one of the best in the business, the centrally mounted motor drives all four axles while the heavy diecast chassis ensures this 25 will pull long trains with ease.

Bachmann OO BR 25276 Class 25/3 Bo-Bo Blue DCC Sound (32-404DS)

A new DCC Sound class 25 for 2011

This model of 25276 is painted in the BR corporate blue livery fitted with a DCC controlled sound system. The class 25 sounds are an excellent reproduction of the real locomotives.

Matched with the well proven Bachmann drive mechanism these are smooth running locomotive models, ideal for modellers adding the extra dimension of sound on small layouts, recalling the more sedate pace of branchline life in the 1950s and 60s.

25276 is one of the revised body design class 25s, with air intake grilles along the cantrail, well away from the dust and grime kicked up from the track.

Hornby OO BR Class 50 037 Illustrious Co-Co Diesel Locomotive DCC Sound (R2901XS)

The mighty 'Hoover', built for the West Coast mainline and made redundant by the completion of electrification the class 50s became heir to the legacy of the Western regions' Warships. The Western region used them to, first exploiting the 100mph maximum speed on the Great Western main, Brunels' 'biliiard table' then shifting them to NE/SW InterCity trains. Not always on long trains either, delayed Sprinter deliveries resulted in 50s on sets of 4-5 Mk.2 coaches standing in. Drivers said they'd use the full maximum speed to keep time as station stops planned for centrally controlled sliding door trains took longer with the coaching stock.
The English Electric engine, derived from the engine inside Britains first mainline diesels, had a distinct sound. Now this sound comes to your own layout with this DCC Sound version of 50 018 Illustrious.

Remember! Antics price includes mainland UK delivery for your new locomotive.

Supplied complete with a factory fitted DCC decoder and sound system this model brings you the full Deltic experience!

Capturing the high set lines of the body and matched with a powerful motor driving through both bogies to deliver the stunning acceleration and speed for which the Deltics were renown.

Bachmann OO BR 9005 The Prince of Wales' Own Regiment of Yorkshire Class 55 Deltic Locomotive BR Blue DCC OnBoard (32-531DC)

The East Coast route has been famous as the fastest route to Scotland since the Victorian era. Seeking suitable replacements for Sir Nigel Gresleys' pacific type steam locomotives BRs' Eastern region were inpressed with the performance of the English Electric Deltic prototype.

These charismatic locomotives quickly gained their own following after the end of steam and Bachmanns' model captures the high set lines of the body. Hornby OO BR Class 56 049 Railfreight Redstripe Livery DC (R2646)

Completely new tooling for the class 56!

Hornby really have brought the class 56 up to current standards of detail with this new model. A smooth running mechanism and heavy chassis provides plenty of train-pulling power, just like the real locomotive! The bodyshell features see-thorugh roof fan grilles with cooling fans beneath and the detail differences between batches and builders have been incorportaed into the new tooling.

56 049 is a Doncaster locomotive, painted in the Railfreight grey livery with red solebar stripe. Hornby OO BR 50 008 Thunderer Class 50 Co-Co Diesel Electric Locomotive Laira Heritage Blue (R3054)

50 008 Thunderer received a repaint at Laira shed as the working lives of the class 50s were coming to an end. The scheme closely resembled the standard BR rail blue which the class had been painted in from new until refurbishment in the 1980s. The finished locomotive was quite corporate blue however, lacking the yellow window frames and being finished the the light grey roof, a Laira repaint trade-mark, but originally the roof was blue as well.

The Hornby model reproduces this unique livery variation on a highly detailed model of the class 50 locomotive. The models heavy diecast chassis and powerful motor provides for excellent performance, easily matching the capbilities of these 2,700bhp, 100mph express locomotives.

Bachmann OO BR E3058 Type AL5 Class 85 Electric Locomotive Electric Blue Twin Pantographs (31-676)

One of the early designs of 25kV electric locomotives for the West Coast mainline electrification the AL5 type was built by BR works at Doncaster. Later calssified 85 under the TOPS system these were robust and reliable locomotives which had long service lives. Surviving the initial purge of less satisfactory types when the 'second generation' class 87s were built class 85s could still be found in charge of West Coast expresses until the late 1980s.
One of the classic British electric locomotives the 85 will be at home alongside the class 86, 87 and 90 locomotives available from Hornby and Heljan. Hopefully a model of the equally long-lived English Electric AL1/class 81 will follow and maybe the less successful 82, 83 and 84 classes to complete the fleet.

Bachmann OO BR Derby Lightweight DMU 2-Car Unit BR Blue (32-517)

The Derby Lightweight units were among the first types of diesel multiple unit to enter widespread service on British Railways in the 1950s. Making full use of the modern aluminium materials to craete a lightweight coach body the units could easily be propelled by compact but low-powered diesel engines being produced for buses. The design was a classic in styling, although more familiar today the use of all-round glazing, open-plan seating and the ability to see through the drivers' cabins were novel features.

Luckily, due to use by the engineering and research sections of BR, one of these units has survived, revealing the remarkably innovative construction and use of materials.

This unit will be painted in the BR blue livery with yellow end warning panels.

Bachmann OO Class 105 Cravens 2-Car DMU Blue with Yellow Ends (31-325)

The Class 105 Cravens diesel multiple unit will reflect the same standard of engineering excellence as its predecessor, the Class 108, which has enjoyed unprecedented popularity.

Constructed by Sheffield train builders Cravens in response to BR orders for diesel multiple units these units had a distinctive 2-window front end. The units were quickly pressed into suburban service around London, a service for which the design had not been intended, but proved highly successful. Although the desing was not perpetuated Cravens built a quality product and the units ran into the 1980s, outlasting many other builders trains. One 2-car set is preserved, having delivered many more years of reliable service in preservation and with a secure future ahead.

Bachmann OO BR Class 105 Power Twin Diesel Multiple Unit Train BR Blue (31-535)

New version of the Cravens 105 units announced 2011.

Constructed by Sheffield train builders Cravens in response to BR orders for diesel multiple units the class 105 units had a distinctive 2-window front end.

Sets were built as 2-car units with one driving motor car and one driving trailer car and 3-car units, with two driving motor cars, one with a guards' van, flanking a trailer car. The central trailer cars were later dispensed with, converting the 3-car sets into 2-car sets with both cars powered. These 'power twin' sets offered a better power-to-weight ratio than the standard sets, very useful on routes with difficult gradients. Although the Cravens design was not perpetuated the company had built a quality product and the units ran into the 1980s, outlasting many other builders' trains.

This model is one of the power-twin sets painted in the BR plain blue livery with full yellow ends, as seen through the 1970s and 80s.

This 2-car unit comprises a powered DMBS driving motor brake second class car and a DTC driving trailer composite coach with a first class section behind the drivers' cab. The set is painted in the plain blue livery of the 1970s and early 80s with full yellow ends. Both cars are fitted with directionally controlled lighting.

This is a new and highly detailed model, matching the standards set by the Bachmann 105 and 108 units in recent years. One truck is driven using a motor mostly hidden within the guards' office at the inner end of the motor car, with sifficient power to allow an extra car to be hauled when necessary.

The Dapol model represents the later body style with split headcode boxes and will be powered by a flywheel drive mechanism with Dapols' smooth running 'super-creep' motor and 40:1 drive ratio, which provides excellent slow-speed performance. The chassis incorporates directional lighting, a 21-pin DCC decoder socket and space for a sound system speaker has been designed into the fuel tank.
Due to the locomotives' amusing ability to shed the lower bodyside valences Dapol have supplied these as separate sections, along with detailing of the chassis sides, to allow missing panel details to be matched.
