Heljan O 3711 BR Class 37 Centre Headcode Locomotive BR Green With Full Yellow Ends
Heljan O gauge 3711 BR Class 37 Centre Headcode Locomotive BR Green with Yellow Ends
Following the original Heljan O gauge class 37 with split headcode boxes the later centre headcode version is now under development.
Heljan locomotives feature a heavy diecast chassis block and twin motors, one driving each bogie. Weighing in at over 3 kilos the combination of weight and powerful motors results in a smooth running locomotive with significant inertia for realistic starts and acceleration.
Attention to detail in the design of the bodyshell to incorporate accurate profile, grilles and louvres results in a very pleasing model of the 37, which proved to be one of British Rails' most successful and widely travelled diesels.
This model carries the BR green livery with yellow nose ends. The size of the yellow panels was increased through the 1960s, starting as small panels and finishing with the entire nose end in yellow. The last built locomotives may have had full yellow ends from new, the earlier locomotives received full yellow ends when repairs were required.
