Heljan O BR Class 20 Bo-Bo Diesel Locomotive Blue Livery with Full Yellow Ends (2001)

An excellent O gauge class 20 model from Heljan. The English Electric type 1 was the first production diesel locomotive type delivered to British Railways in 1957. The single cab 1000bhp locomotives proved so useful that several members of the class are still in service over 50 years later!

Sturdy construction with good detailing and painted in BR blue livery with yellow ends, the model is supplied without lettering/numbering or emblems, allowing you to complete the model to match a prototype of your choice.

Heljan O Class 26 BR Green with Small Warning Panel (2670)

This excellent model is painted in the early BR green livery, carried through the initial trail period and in Scotland until the early 1970s. The models are supplied unlettered, allowing logos, lettering and other details to be added to match a specific prototype locomotive.

The Birmingham RCW submitted this locomoitve design for the BR type 2 diesel locomotive specification under the experimental pilot scheme. The design proved to be the most successful and longest lived of the type 2 locomotives, being classified class 26 under the TOPS numbering system and finding a long-term niche on the Scottish highland lines.

Initially deployed on a range of duties including London suburban trains as BR tested their new diesels to find out what they could do both BR and Birmingham design type 2s were later tried in Scotland. The BRCW locomotives quickly became favoured for their reliability on the long trips across remote Highland routes, being regarded as generally superior to the Derby locomotives (later class 24).
The internal layout of the BRCW locomotives was also superior to the class 24, making maintenance simpler and leading to both the redesign of the class 25 locomotives and the life-extension overhaul of class 26 which saw them outlive their Derby counterparts.

Heljan O Class 33 BR Green with Small Warning Panel (33901)

A O gauge model of the BR class 33 Crompton locomotives. These popular locomotives were built to the specifications of the Southern region, using a more powerful 8-cylinder Sulzer engine of the same type as the 6-cylinder engines fitted in BR classes 24/5/6/7. Although allocated solely to the Southern throughout their careers the locomotives travelled widely with inter-regional trains and in preservation have found homes in many corners of the country.

This model is painted in the BR green livery with small yellow warning panels. No lettering is supplied so the locomotive can be finished to recreate the prototype of your choice.
