This set is based on the Cornish Riviera Express, an express passenger train that has run between London and Penzance in Cornwall since 1904. It has become one of the most famous named trains in Great Britain, with the publicity employed by GWR in the 1930s elevating it to its iconic status.

This set features one of the BR Western Regions' Warship class diesel hydraulic locomotives built in the 1950s leading a train of coaches in the classic GWR chocolate and cream livery, these coaches being repainted to equip the re-launched Cornish Riviera express in the late 1950s.

The train controller supplied is Bachmanns' easy-to-use EZ-Command DCC Digital command control unit. Use of a DCC controller allows for extra trains to be added to a layout with ease, locomotives require a decoder to be fitted, then can be driven anywhere on the layout without interfering with other trains.
