Billings 1/60 Andrea Gail Perfect Storm B608
The Andrea Gail, an un-inspected commercial fishing vessel departed Gloucester Harbour, Massachusetts on September 20th 1991 with six crew members on board. The crew intended to fish for swordfish in the area of the Grand Banks, off Newfoundland, Canada. The vessel and six crew members were never seen again and presumed lost at sea in very bad weather, referred to as the 'Perfect Storm' by a meteorologist and made famous by Sebastian Junger's book that was later turned into a Hollywood movie.
The kit includes parts to construct a traditional plank on frame hull with lasercut strengthening parts producing a traditional style of construction. Also supplied are a range of high quality plastic and metal fittings. The instruction booklet is very detailed, detailing each step of construction. The model is designed to accept radio control, although further items will be required to enable this.
