These were the locomotives built to support the transport needs of the increasingly mechanised German armed forces, being designed for rapid construction and ease of maintenance. The kit comes in a substantial box which is well filled with sprues, comprising 710 parts! The finished model is a massive 880mm long. Painting instructions and decals are included for wartime military camouflage or peacetime�DR/DB livery.

An excellent and well thought out kit to build a model of the German railways class 98 2-8-2 side tank locomotive. These engines were designed for use on branch lines, where�bridges and track structure limited axle loadings. The 8 main driving wheels were used to help spread the weight of the engine over driven axles, with a leading truck front and rear to help guide the locomotive into curves while running in forward or reverse.

A non-powered kit to build a 6-wheel Sentinel diesel shunting locomotive. The kit includes detailed outside franes with the complex axlebox strengthing and cab glazing units. This is a static model and is supplied with plastic wheels, axles and side rods, motorising should be possible with suitable replacements.
These locomotives were popular with many industrial operators and incorporated many safety features, including recessed end steps so shunters were protected while riding. These features have ensured that the Sentinel is still used today for industry shunting and by many preserved railways, making this kit ideal for a static 'standby' locomotive. | |
