Hornby OO R4505 GWR Hawksworth (1949) First Class
A new and detailed model of the GWR Hawksworth design coaches built from 1947.
The post-WW2 era on the Great Western saw the introduction of these new coaches with domed roof ends. Produced under the guidance of CME F W Hawksworth the coaches also saw a return to a more decorative livery style, the traditional chocolate and cream now divided by a waist band enclosing the lettering. The company name appeared as Great Western, flanking the crests of the cities of London and Bristol, which formed the company seal.
Some of these coaches entered service just before nationalisation, while many more followed under British Railways.
