Bachmann OO BR Highlander Coach Pack 1 Mk.2A TSO 1 Class 101 DTCL West Highland Line Tourist Livery 39-005

Bachmann Branchline OO Gauge Highlander Coach Pack comprising One BR Mk.2A TSO Second Class Coach and One Class 101 DMU DTCL Trailer Coach. West Highland Line Green & Cream Tourist Livery.
New product announced 2016. Price to be advised.

A very interesting coach pack from Bachmann featuring a BR Mk.2A TSO touriset second open class coach plus an ex-DMU driving trailer coach, in service as an observation saloon.
These coaches carry the green and cream livery applied to coaches being used on the Highlander tourist train service along the West Highland line between Fort William and Mallaig.

British Rail operated an observation saloon on the scenic West Highland line for many years. By the 1980s the old ex-LNER saloon was becoming very expensive to maintain and DMU trailer cars were converted to take over the saloon role.
Typical traction for the Highlander service includes class 37/4 diesels, plus the preserved LNER K1 class and ex-LMS 'Black 5' steam locomotives.

Bachmann Branchline OO Gauge 39-580 BR Western Region Auto Trailer Chocolate & Cream (Preserved)

A new and detailed model of the GWR style auto trailer coaches built by British Railways for use with class 14xx, 64xx and 4575 locomotives in push-pull trains. These coaches were constructed on 63ft underframes and given GWR series diagram numbers A38 and A40. Body construction was updated in style, with more modern smooth sides but followed the traditional GWR design with a three-window bowed front end, providing the driver with a good view of the line ahead when the coach was being propelled. The coaches were built in the early 1950s and so far as is known none carried chocolate & cream livery in British railways service, however preseved coaches have been painted in the GWR livery by heritage railways.

This highly detailed model features a detailed underframe including suspended steps and representation of front end cab control apparatus along with a host of features such as bogies fitted with all axle phosphor bronze (low friction) bearings. The bodyshell includes a detailed passenger interior and roof details with individually fitted GWR style shell vents. To finsih the coach prototypical length buffers are fitted and buffer beam detailing accessories are supplied.

Bachmanns' BR Mk.1 coach models are the best models of these key coaches produced to date. Attention to detail including producing a range of different coach types with wire end handrails and water filler pipes allows a complete train to be faithfully recreated.

This model is the corridor composite coach, a coach containing compartments for first and second/standard class passengers, painted in the Southern region green livery, adopted to match the colours of the electric multiple unit trains. Composite coaches were used to provide an appropriate number of first class seats on short cross-country trains and for sections of trains to the West Country, where one train would leave London and portions would be uncoupled en-route to provide for direct service to several destinations.

Businessmen found the tables useful to get some work done while travelling, leading to an increasing acceptance of the open plan seating arrangement for first class accomodation.

Hornby Railways R4763 BR ex-GWR Collett Bow Ended 57' Corridor 3rd Class Coach BR Maroon

Collett 'Bow Ended' Standard 57' Corridor Stock
When Charles Collett became Chief Mechanical Officer of the Great Western Railway in 1922, one of his priorities was to modernise the GWR?s fleet of ageing, yet distinctive ?Toplight? coaching stock. His resulting ?bow-ended? design went on to become the basic GWR design for almost 30 years and from 1925, until the late summer of 1929, the steel panelled, oak framed bow-ended coach, with inset windows, high waist and clean exterior, was applied to 57? coach bodies on newly developed 7? single bolster bogies.

On entering traffic in 1925, six coach sets were formed from Lot Nos. 1351-53, comprising Corridor Thirds from diagram C54, left and right handed 4 compartment Corridor Brake Thirds from diagram D95 and left and right handed Corridor Composites from diagram E127. Over the following four years, further Lot numbers of these diagrams were produced, along with an additional eight different diagrams and the design became the first choice for the important Express Trains, including the Cheltenham Spa Express and Bristolian, until the late 1930s. Many of these coaches survived in general service until 1961, being withdrawn completely by early 1963, with several managing to escape scrapping when they were converted for departmental use during the early 1960s.

Bachmann OO BR(W) Auto Trailer Unlined Maroon 39-579

Bachmann Brachline OO Gauge 39-579 British Railways Western Region Auto Trailer Unlined Maroon

A detailed model of the GWR style auto trailer coaches built by British Railways for use with class 14xx, 64xx and 4575 locomotives in push-pull trains. These coaches were constructed on 63ft underframes and given GWR series diagram numbers A38 and A40. The body followed the traditional GWR design with a three-window bowed front end, providing the driver with a good view of the line ahead when the coach was being propelled. Body construction was updated in style, with more modern smooth sides.

The models' detailed underframe includes suspended steps and representation of front end cab control apparatus along with a host of features such as bogies fitted with all axle phosphor bronze (low friction) bearings. The bodyshell features a detailed passenger interior and roof detail includes individually fitted GWR style shell vents. To cap off these great models, we have incorporated prototypical length buffers and buffer beam detailing accessories.

Model painted in the BR lined maroon livery which was used from 1957.
    Era 5 1957-1966. Length 275mm

Bachmann Branchline OO Gauge 34-604C BR Mk1 Suburban Open Second BR Lined Maroon

    Model announced 2016

The range included non-corridor suburban type coaches with a large number of side doors to permit rapid boarding and detraining, as required for the intensive suburban services around Britains largest cities.

Bachmanns' models reproduce the detail of these coaches, with a range of types being available to form a prototypical train This model is the second class coach, which was contained an 'open' format of seating. This allowed more space for standing passengers to be accomodated at peak times and made it easier for passengers to move around inside the coach to detrain at their destination station.
