The German Panzerjager (tank hunter) Elefant (Sd. Kfz. 184) was a German tank destroyer used during the later part of World War II. Manufactured by Porsche AG, the Elefant used the chassis Porsche had developed for their proposal for the Tiger Tank. This chassis was fitted with the Krupp 88 mm PaK 43/2 anti-tank gun, which was an improved version of the famous PaK 40 88 mm gun. This gun provided the Elefant with a long-range weapon that could take out enemy armor before that armor could attack the Elefant. The Elefant featured 200 mm of armor and had a six man crew. The powerful gun and thick armor allowed the Elefant to have an excellent 10 to 1 kill ratio. Best used in a defensive role, its large size and weight, slow speed, and high maintenance requirements limited its ability to be used in offensive operations. This 1:72 scale version of the German Elefant depicts the vehicle as seen in Germany in 1944
