GPs high capacity alkaline batteries offer excellent perfomance at a budget price. Bulk packs have even lower per-battery cost! Non rechargeable Alkaline batteries, when fresh, offer a higher voltage (1.5v per cell) than rechargeables (1.2v) and so may outperform their rechargeable equivalents in some applications. Voltage declines with use, however, and may be as low as 0.9v when the battery is exhausted.
