This kit features loads of new parts including a completely new Panzer I chassis. The new frontal armour is assembled from photo-etched and slide-moulded parts for greater details. Production of the Luchs (Lynx) tracked armored reconnaissance vehicle ended in January 1944 after only 100 were built. Therefore, an alternative was needed by Germany, and the chassis of the Czech-built Pz.Kpfw. 38(t) was selected. The result was the Aufklarungspanzer 38(t), which featured a 2cm KwK 38 gun mounted in a Hängelafette (“swivel mounting”) turret. Dragon now adds this kit to their "Premium Edition" stock with more than double the parts of the original kit, adding "Magic Track" for the kit as well as a good-sized fret of etched brass and parts from their more recent "Slide Molded" Tiger I kits.
The "Magic Track" provides two kinds of links – an "A" link (parts R) with a guide tooth and a "B" link (parts S) that snap together. This should solve the complaints from those who want the track to sag properly (but probably getting grouses from the "one-piece track" fans for dropping the DS plastic ones!) The good news is the "Magic Track" links are some of the best around, needing minimal cleanup and replicating the originals very nicely.
The etched brass covers the original grilles as well as many other details and brackets that dress up the model. Some such as the device to the rear of the commander's cupola (MA31) are going to be somewhat difficult to shape but they do provide nice details. A styrene version (A9) is also provided | |

This new 1/35 scale kit is a 251/17 Ausf. C half-track, a vehicle boasting a 2cm Flak 38 cannon. The gun was mounted to have all-round traverse, though the original conversion necessitated considerable rebuilding of the superstructure. Dragon Models has design and produce a completely new fighting compartment unique to this variant of half-track. Also, parts are newly tooled specifically for this kit, meaning there is no need for modelers to cut and rework the vehicle in order to produce a 251/17. Though the details and configuration are complex, clever engineering makes assembly a breeze. The kit obviously incorporates Dragon’s highly accurate 2cm Flak 38 gun, which has been released previously. The Sherman was the mainstay of the Allied armored units, with over 40,000 produced from 1942 onwards. The ubiquitous Sherman was to be found in the ranks of every Allied army in World War II and on every front.
One of the most easily distinguishable variants was the M4A1, which utilized a cast hull rather than the welded hull of the others. Later, a 76mm gun was introduced to give the tank more lethality against heavily armored German opponents, but this required installation of a new turret big enough to carry the gun. In terms of rarities, they don’t come much more unique than Germany’s Dicker Max. The catchy sounding name actually translates as “stout Max”, this being the name given to the prototypical tank destroyer mounting a long-barreled 10.5cm K18 gun. Only two vehicles were produced in 1941, both issued to the 521st Panzerjäger Detachment for a proposed attack on Gibraltar. When this never eventuated, they were transferred to the 3rd Panzer Division and saw combat on the Eastern Front in 1941.
This 1/35 scale model replicates the original vehicle as accurately as possible using all available references. Since this is an open-topped vehicle, no effort was spared in fitting out the interior of the fighting compartment with full detail. To realize this kit, slide molds were frequently employed to give maximum detail and yet keep assembly for modelers as simple as possible. | |

The SU-100 31.6-tonne tank destroyer was used extensively in the last year of WWII (and beyond) and was one of the war’s best tank destroyers. Built by UZTM, it was based on the successful SU-85, though it had a more powerful D-10S 100mm gun capable of penetrating 125mm of vertical armor (i.e. any German tank) at a range of 2000 meters. Other improvements to the SU-100 were its thicker frontal armor increased to 75mm, a commander’s workspace in the right-hand sponson, and a cupola for the commander. The Panzer IV G was to be the first tank installed with the 7.5cm KwK40 L/43 gun in 1942. However, the Wehrmacht needed to urgently counteract the thicker armor of the T-34 and KV-1 so this gun was also fitted to some Ausf. F tanks (where it was known as the F2). A total of 175 F2 tanks were produced from March to July 1942.
This kit has all brand new tooling, with only the tracks being shared from previous kits. Accuracy is ensured through research conducted on several preserved Pz. IVs located from around the world. Furthermore, this Panzer IV kit has been engineered in Smart Kit form, with extremely well-detailed parts using slide molds. | |

In late 1942 the Wehrmacht's arms bureau, the Waffenamt called for a new tank destroyer design based on the Panzer IV, which would be armed with the same 75 mm gun as fitted to the Panther: the PaK 42 L/70. Unlike previous tank destroyers like the Marder series, this gun was to be mounted directly into the Jagdpanzer's superstructure, keeping its silhouette as low as possible.
The Jagdpanzer IV kept the basis chassis of the Panzer IV tank, but the original vertical front plate was replaced by a sharp edged nose. Internally, the layout was changed to accommodate the new superstructure, moving the fuel tanks and ammunition racks. Because the Jagdpanzer lacked a turret, the engine which originally powered the Panzer IV's turret could be eliminated. The new superstructure had sloped armour, which gives a much larger armour protection for a given thickness than conventional armour and at the front was a 100 mm thick. To make the maufacturing process as simple as possible, the superstructure was made out of large, interlocking plates which were welded together. | |
