In 1970 truck driver Stan Robinson decided enough was enough and he no longer wanted to drive for someone else so he set out to make his own business – Stan Robinson Ltd. Stan started out with a second-hand 4 wheel Commer operating as an owner driver out of his back garden in Staffordshire. By 1972 the business had begun to grow moving premises to Colwich Station Yard.
Further growth came in 1975 when Stan purchased W. Davies & Co, over the following two decades Stan Robinson Ltd opened several depots across the UK and won the prestigious award of 'Haulier of the Year' in 1999.
Sadly in April 2012 Stan died at the age of 70 after over 40 years' service to the haulage industry and creating one of the most popular and respected names in the UK Haulage industry. This set has been made to commemorate Stan Robinson and comprises of the first truck he drove – a Morris 4 Wheel Dropside and the Stan Robinson Ltd Scania T show cab. Today the firm has over 300 employees, with a fleet of 180 trucks and is owned and managed by the Robinson family sticking to the same values that Stan had always insisted on 'to provide a quality service for a fair price.
