more	Corgi 1/43 MGB Set Lancashire Constabulary (LC1003) This three car set depicits the MGB used by the Lancashire Constabulary, they employed more than sixty MGB's of which forty were painted in white with the remainder painted in Black. Standard level drivers used the black cars whilst the white cars were reserved for advanced drivers. A couple of the white cars were later repainted with the lower half of the body finished in bright orange to help make the cars stand out in adverse weather conditions. more... This meant that, when launched in 1977, it was natural for forces such as the Sussex Police, who had used Avengers extensively, to employ the Sunbeam in a similar unit beat car role in both rural and urban locations. Like other small cars the Nova was used widely in the Unit Beat Panda car role, a system of policing pioneered in 1965 which continues to this day and allows Police to cover much wider areas during a single shift. Although some forces used Nova saloons, most used the Nova in its more versatile hatchback form, as modelled here. The car modelled, a 1979 1.6L, registered GAR 638T, was used by the Hertfordshire Constabulary as a Divisional Area Car and was based at Hitchin Police Station. In common with other Hertfordshire Constabulary vehicles it carried dual roof mounted spotlights as well as the equipment required to deal with a variety of emergency situations. The Fiesta was Ford?s first ever front-wheel-drive car and that was a technology that had proven less than durable on other manufacturer?s offerings. Therefore forces all over the UK stuck with the tried and tested rear-wheel-drive Escort Mk2. However Hertfordshire Police realised the packaging, economy and comfort virtues of Ford?s new billion dollar baby and were among the first to adopt the Fiesta as a regular Panda car.
