Hornby R4563 00 Gauge BR InterCity Mk.2D BSO Second Class Open Brake Coach Blue & Grey Livery
These air conditioned coaches marked a major upgrade in passenger facilities on British Rail express trains from the early 1970s.
This model represents a Mk.2D air conditioned second class brake coach with accomodation for the guard and a luggage van area in the InterCity blue and grey livery. These and the similar later builds formed the backbone of BR long distance express passenger services through the 1970s and 80s.
Hornby are also producing the matching TSO second class and FO first class coaches. No buffet cars were built during this period, one of the Mk.1 RB restaurant or RMB miniature buffet cars being used. Models of these coaches are available from the Bachmann range.
