Bachmann OO 39-725DC BR Mk2F DBSO Coach Blue & Grey DCC Controlled Lighting

A new and detailed model of the BR mark 2F air conditioned brake second class coach as modified into a driving trailer coach, with drivers cab to control a locomotive pushing from the rear of the train.
These coaches were converted to upgrade the Glasgow to Edinburgh shuttle services to air conditioned stock and more powerful class 47 locomotives in the early 1980s. After replacement on by Sprinter units in the mid 1990s these coaches saw further service on East Anglian InterCirty services with class 86 electric locomotives.

These models are of the Mk.2F coaches, the last of the Mk.2 series build (1973-1975) and almost identical to preceding Mk.2E coaches (1972-73 build), the design changes relating primarily to the air conditioning plant. These two builds formed the backbone of the InterCity locomotive-hauled coach fleet during the 1970s and 80s.

This is a model of one of the brake second class coaches fitted with a drivers' cab for push-pull operation with class 47/7 locomotives on the Edinburgh to Glasgow service. Painted in the BR corporate blue and grey livery.
