The steady closure of domestic coal concentration depots in the 1990s saw the HEA hoppers redeployed on coal delivery to small consumers (ie. smaller than power stations!) and put to use as barrier wagons. An empty HEA hopper would often be seen on each end of an oil train for example. | |
