The HEA design hopper was constructed to replace the life expired 1950s HTV design on domestic coal deliveries with a new vehicle, capable to travelling safely at higher speeds.

The steady closure of domestic coal concentration depots in the 1990s saw the HEA hoppers redeployed on coal delivery to small consumers (ie. smaller than power stations!) and put to use as barrier wagons. An empty HEA hopper would often be seen on each end of an oil train for example.

A new model of the BR FNA air-braked nuclear flask carrier wagon with enclosed canopy.

These wagons were carefully designed to suit the safety requirements of the nuclear industry. The body has clean, flat faces allowing for easy cleaning as most surfaces are self-draining. The flask itself is accomodated under an enclosed hood, helping reduce the effect of changes in weather, including the heating of direct sunlight.

This model is of one of the early build of this design with flat floors and round buffers.

The flask itself is accomodated under an enclosed hood, helping reduce the effect of changes in weather, including the heating of direct sunlight.

This model is of one of the early build of this design with flat floors and round buffers. This version has the load/empty brake changeover valve mounted on the outside of the flat bodyside.

The British military operate a number of rail-connected storage depots across the UK with a fleet of wagons for transferring stores between depots and terminals. Most stores are now moved on pallets and a fleet of pallet vans has been in use by the Army since the 1980s.

This van features large sliding doors, arranged such that half the length of the wagon floor can be accessed through each door. This allows quick and easy loading of palletised freight along the full length of the wagon.
