The Royal Mail have made use of the railways for the carriage of mails since the creation of the network in the 1840s/50s. Sorting of mail on the move speeded up deliveries over long distances, allowing for the next day first class service to be maintained.

This model is of the BR Mk.1 TPO van, built to the new standard BR coach design in the 1950s painted in the original maroon livery, as used by BR passenger coaches from 1956 until the end of the 1960s. This coach also has the original larger vent windows, later reduced in size for security reasons and interior lighting.

A new and highly detailed of the GWR 2-8-0 heavy freight tank engines of the 42xx and 5205 classes. This model represents the early build 42xx class engines with square ended frames in front of the cylinders.

One of the large Great Western locomotive classes not previously available in OO scale these engines were found all over the GWR network working heavy freight trains, from coal in South Wales to china clay in Cornwall.

A detailed model of a 2-car British Railways Southern region push-pull train set formed from two Maunsell design coaches.

These sets were formed under British Railways ownership to replace older, often pre-grouping coaches in use on branch lines. The Maunsell coaches were drawn from the mainline stock made surplus by the introduction of new Bulleid and BR standard Mk.1 designs of coaching stock during the 1950s.
