Mercator was originally produced in German and then the castings were taken over by Skytrex, who added a few models of their own. Skytrex are no longer producing at the present time and the stock we have is all that is available.

Mercator 1/1250 Queen Elizabeth Ocean Liner Model (M493)
Mercators waterline model of the Queen Elizabeth has always been well regarde, combining reasonable detail with good proportions. Its a sturdy model too. There are some minor variations between the model we have in stock and the photograph, mainly the decks are painted in a light brown and the masts are cast metal and aslo painted brown - a bit darker than the decks. The formast has four derrick arms.

Mercator 1/1250 Der Deutsche, A German KDF Cruise Ship, 1934 (M585)
Built in 1924, she was renamed Sierra Morena before becoming a KDF cruise ship. In 1940, she was used as a troop transport before becoming an accommodation ship at Danzig in 1941. Moved to Gotenhafen, as a U-boat depot ship, she resumed trooping in 1944 and was used as a refugee transport in 1945 during the evacuation of East Prussia. Bombed and beached as a constuctive total loss, she was salvaged by the Russians and became "Asia" in 1950!
