Details fully finished waterline model of Europa Canada Line Seven Seas (1955)
Laid down as a C3 cargo ship at Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Company, Chester, Pennsylvania for Moore-McCormack line the ship was transferred to the US Navy before launch in 1940. Transformed into an escort carrier USS Long Island she served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. De-mobbed and returned to cargo service she was reconverted as a migrant ship on the Australia run as NS Nelly.
Refitted as a 2-class liner in 1953 renamed MS Seven Seas with a greatly enlarged superstructure, decks extended fore and aft and accommodation for 20 first and 987 tourist class passengers.
