Corgi 1/48 SE5a F8005, 25th Aero Sqn, USAAS, late 1918 AA37706

The SE5a was one of the most famous, and effective, British fighters of the First World War. Serving with the RFC from March 1917, the SE5a was well liked by its pilots. Able to engage the German machines on an equal footing the RFC?s airmen were able to strike back at the previously superior German aircraft.

Corgi 1/48 Royal Aircraft Factory SE5a, C1149/W 'Schweinhund', Capt. Duncan Grinnell-Milne, No.56 Sqn RFC, 1918 AA37707

Royal Aircraft Factory SE5a, C1149/W 'Schweinhund', Capt. Duncan Grinnell-Milne, No.56 Sqn RFC, 1918
Duncan Grinnell-Milne was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps in 1915 and following his flying training, he joined No.16 Squadron in France, scoring his first aerial victory flying a BE2.  In late 1915, he was shot down and crash landed behind enemy lines.  Captured by German forces, he was forced to spend more than two years in a German prisoner of war camp, before eventually escaping and making his way back to France. Returning to flying duty as the Commanding Officer of No.56 Squadron RFC, Grinnell-Milne managed to score five more victories in the last weeks of the war. His unique SE5a (C1149/W) had a non-standard fuselage colour and carried the name ?Schweinhund?, which was a reference to how the German guards would address him and his fellow POWs.

Corgi 1/48 SPAD XIII, S15123, 1Lt Lansing Carlton Holden Jr, 95th Aero Sqn, July 1918 AA37906

Corgi brings you AA37906 a World War 1 Spad XIII Fighter flown by 1st Lieutenant Carlton Holden Junior flying for the 95th aero Squadron during 1918.
The earliest use of military aircraft on a large scale was during the First World War. In 1918 the 95th Aero Squadron became the first American pursuit squadron to fly in combat on the Western Front. The Squadron?s mission was to clear enemy aircraft from the skies as well as to escort reconnaissance and bombardment squadrons. Throughout their time in combat, members of the Squadron shot down thirty-five enemy aircraft and had six aces. Among them was 1Lt Lansing Colton Holden Jr, a Princeton dropout, who scored his first victory on 29th September 1918 having survived being shot down himself in August that year. Our replica carries the 95th Aero Squadron?s kicking mule squadron emblem.
