Corgi 1/48 RAF Se5A Capt Billy Bishop Summer 1917 Diecast Model Aircraft (AA37702)

Good model of the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 as flown by the Royal Flying Corp's top-scoring ace;? Billy Bishop, a Canadian who? achieved 72 victories. Awarded the Victoria Cross, he was the first pilot to surpass the record of famed British Ace Albert Ball. McCudden, Ball, Bishop, Mannock, and many other British aces found that with the? SE5a? they could at? last? fight on equal terms with the German Albatros. Soon after they were delivered Lt.A.P.F.Rhys Davids brought down Werner Voss, von Richthofen's famous number two, which brought an enormous boost to Allied morale

Model wingspan 168mm,

The Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5 was a British biplane fighter of the First World War. Although the first examples reached the Western Front before the Sopwith Camel, and it had a much better overall performance, problems with its Hispano-Suiza engine meant that there was a chronic shortage of S.E.5s until well into 1918 and fewer squadrons were equipped with the type than with the Sopwith fighter.
