Navis Neptun 1/1250 618N Admiral Ushakov, Russian coast defence ship, 1904
A 1/1250 scale model of the Coast Defence battleship, Admiral Ushakov. There were three ships in the class and they were built to counter similar Swedish ships in the Baltic. During the Russo-Japanese War, all three were sent to the Far East where Ushakov was sunk at the Battle of Tsushima and the other two surrendered.
Admiral Ushakov survived the first day of the Battle of Tsushima only to find that the Japanese fleet found her the next day and she was sunk during the mopping up operation. Sistership General Admiral Graf Apraxin and near sister Admiral Seniavin (only 3x10" guns - the others had 4x10") surrendered and joined the Japanese fleet as Okinoshima & Mishima respectively. These last two were scrapped in the late 1920s.
