Not only did Parsons design the first effective steam turbine, he designed a ship to prove it! Turbinia dashed through the lines of warships at Spithead Review and the picket boats couldn't stop her!
Marine Artist Models made this model over 10 years ago. With 2000hp from her engines, Parsons had to solve the problems of cavitation at the propellers before she could deliver her phenomenal speed. She is preserved today in Newcastle upon Tyne. | |
