The model is based on an engraving often seen in books up to the 1960s of this enormous light tower, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The lighthouse collapsed in an earthquake in c13th but the dimensions and descriptions were recorded whilst it was still standing.
Standing nearly 400ft tall, this must be the largest lighthouse ever built. The Ancient Egyptians certainly had the technology to create such a huge building and it survived for over 1000 years. | |
