Navis Neptun 1/1250 13 Kongo, Japanese Battlecruiser built in Britain, 1914
A secondhand model of early Navis production with the plastic topmasts added. This model is in very good condition overall but there is some slight wear to the dark grey paintwork on the port, forward deck edge and on the midships casemate gun barrels on both sides.
The four ships of this class all differed slightly in the position and relative height of their funnels. In our opinion, the model resembles Hiei rather than Kongo because of the large gap between the mainmast and forefunnel. Only Kongo was built in Britain, the rest in Japan. Hiei was Emperor Hirohito's favourite battleship, Haruna was mined in WW1 but was sunk in shallow water at Kure in 1945 and Kirishima was sunk by gunfire (mostly from US cruisers) at Guadalcanal in 1942.
