Navis Neptun 1/1250 69AN S49, German WW1 destroyer, 1916-1919

A 1/1250 scale metal model of the German destroyer, S49, a mobilisation design, entering service in 1916. All four ships, S49-52, saw active service and were surrendered and interned in Scapa Flow. S51 was beached by the Royal Navy but the other 3 were scuttled on 21st June 1919. All four were salvaged and scrapped in Britain during the 1920s.

Beginning with S53, this design was enlarged and extended by 9ft 6in and a cruising turbine was added to extend the range.

Coastlines models Cox & Danks salvage docks A & B could be used to "refloat" sunken S49 class destroyers. They were winched to the surface using wire hawsers, not refloated by compressed air.
