Navis Neptun 1/1250 117 HMS Canada, a Chilean Battleship taken over by the Royal Navy at the outbreak of WW1
A 1/1250 scale secondhand model of HMS Canada in 1915 by Navis Neptun 117. The model is in good condition and the black plastic topmasts have been fitted. Building in Britain for Chile, she was taken over by the Royal Navy when war broke out with Germany. After service with the Grand Fleet to the end of WW1, she was sold back to ChileĀ and given her original name of Almirante Lattore. She was finally withdrawn in the 1950s and scrapped. One of her secondary 6" guns is now on the preserved M29 at Portsmouth dockyard.
Canada's sistership, Almirante Cochrane, was taken over at an earlier stage of building and became the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle, which remained in service with the Royal Navy until sunk during Operation Pedestal in 1942.
