Powered by a centrally mounted motor with flywheels in a diecast chassis drives two axles on each bogie through helical reduction gears. The bodyshell has been produced from completely new tooling designed by ex-Lima engineers. This shows every sign of being a top-notch model, combining the latest technology with decades of model manufacturing experience. Accurately reproduced tumblehome, bonnet shaping and end taper are complemented with flush glazing, etched windscreen wipers, etched roof fan grilles and finely moulded bodyside grille and panel detailing.

Origianlly one of the Welsh passenger service class 37s 37430 carried the name of the South wales newtown, Cwmbran, officially unveiled on the locomotive in 1986 to mark the opening of the local station. The model is froma alter period though, representing the locomotive as running int he mid 1990s after being allocated as an asset if the Transrail freight shadow-franchise company. This was the largest of the three regional BR freight companies set up immediately prior to privatisation. All three companies were purchased by the Wisconsin Central railroad, and re-combined to form their EWS subsidiary.
