| > OO Coaches & Wagons > BR Crimson & Cream | After several trials British Railways selected a Crimson and cream livery for its' mainline coaching stock, with plain crimson for suburban trains. It takes a very long time to repaint a fleet of passenger coaches and the paint lasts for many years, offering a great variety of extra liveries for modelling this time period. The new BR standard mark 1 coaches were coming into service alongside the older pre-BR coaches, many still painted in their old company colours. Slowly the company colours disappear as until 1957, when BR changed to lined maroon for new repaints. Even then the crimson and cream livery was only slowly displaced. The Southern region, operating a large fleet of green painted electric trains retained green for their existing locomotive hauled coaches, with the new BR mark 1 coaches being delivered in crimson & cream. The green painted Mk1 coaches have been placed in the post 1957 section, marking the return of regional liveries for convenience. | Hornby OO BR ex GWR Brake Carmine & Cream W5109W (R4243A)
