A superbly detailed model of the Great Western Collett Goods or Baby Castle 0-6-0. Featuring fine spoked wheels and the characteristic daylight beneath the boiler, fine wire handrails and backhead detailing. Power is supplied by a tender mounted motor, ensuring realistic trains can be pulled by this small engine. A Lenz DCC decoder is incorporated, allowing use on 12-volt DC or NMRA DCC control systems straight from the box.

A separate bag of accessories is supplied containing an optional front coupling, scale length drawbar, tender brake, water gauge and handrails.

The 2251 class or Collett Goods was a 1930's updated version of the GWR's Dean or standard 0-6-0 goods engine. A modern, efficient boiler and fittings, smooth ride and an adequate turn of speed made these locomotives popular with their crews, earning them the nickname of Baby Castles. Capable of working both passenger and goods trains over secondary routes where heavier locomotives were prohibited building continued into WWII. After nationalisation some of the 120 members of the class moved onto former SR and LMS routes in the South West, again replacing older locomotives on weight restricted routes, notably the former S&D route over the Somerset levels to Burnham-on-Sea.

These modern and widely travelled locomotives are ideal companions for the recently introduced Dapol and Graham Farish branch line engines, as well as an addition to any mainline locomotive fleet.>

Some detail parts are to be supplied separately for installation by the modeller, including rear tender handrails, brake handle and water gauge. Alternate drawbars are supplied to allow the locomotive to negotiate a 9” radius curve, or for close coupling of the tender suitable for curves of 12" radius or greater. A front coupling unit is supplied with the model for fitted if required.
