The B1 was one of the most widely travelled LNER locomotive classes, being the Eastern companys' class 5 engines, equivilant to the GWR Hall and LMS Black 5 4-6-0s. 410 were built in total, replacing many older locomotives from secondary duties, including inter-regional services.
This model of LNER number 1225 is finished in the classic LNER apple green livery, as applied to the first locomotives built before nationalisation.
