Graham Farish N BR Class 101 2-Car Diesel Multiple Unit DMU Network South East 371-505

2-car BR Metropolitan-Cammell class 101 Diesel Multiple Unit in Network South East multi-stripe livery.

Introduced in the 1950's these DMU's replaced steam passenger trains on branch lines and local services across the country. The ability to couple these trains together to form longer trains when needed with just one driver and guard made these units very flexible in service. The last units of this type were still in passenger service in 2000 and several sets have been preserved.

Era 8. DCC Ready. 6-pin decoder required for DCC operation.

Graham Farish N GWR Railcar Brunswick Green 371-628

Bachmann Graham Farish N Gauge 371-628 GWR Railcar W22W BR Green with Speed Whiskers
Delivery expected February 2018.

Bachmann intend to re-tool the mode of the GWR railcar to greatly improve the standard of this model and bring it into line their with recent diesel railcar models of the 101 and 108 DMUs. The new chassis will feature a DCC decoder socket.

Several railway companies experimented with diesel traction between the wars, testing shunting engines, 4-wheel 'railbus' units and bogie rail cars. Only the Great Western with AEC developed 'prototypes' into viable production trains. Following the smooth-curved coach-built express railcars Swindon produced a more angular streamlined styling, better suited to mass production and built 20 cars to this design, including one parcels car and notably 4 single-ended cars arranged to work in pairs. These last four being the forerunners in mechnical design of the British Rail diesel multiple units of the 1950/60s.

Eras 4-5. DCC Ready 6 pin decoder required for DCC operation.

New model announced 2012

Pacer Progress 2015
Dapol have received first engineering prototype samples of the class 142 pacer models. A number of issues have been identified, including the windows looking a little small, which can be addressed before the model progresses to tooling. The design of a no-gap flexible corridor connection is particularly welcome, no-gap connections having been a feature of many unit train models from Japan for some years. Directional lighting and scharfenberg couplers (representing the BSI couplers of the real units) will be fitted.

Dapol N Regional Railways Class 153 Single Car Diesel Unit Dummy ND115b

Dapol have announced that they will be producing the class 153 single car diesel unit train in N gauge, with the production of CAD drawings already at an advanced stage.
A useful diesel unit train introduced in the early 1990s the 153 unit can run alone on lightly used branchlines, or be combined with many of the Sprinter generation units to boost train capacity quickly and easily on busy commuter routes. Certainly a welcome addition to the range for operators of small N gauge layouts!

This unpowered or dummy unit can be coupled to a powered car to create a longer train.

This model will carry the original BR Regional Railways livery, seen from the early 1990s until the final units were repainted about 2000.
