Activity Media Modelling Landscapes Part 1 Right Track DVD 5 (RT5)
This DVD is a practical guide to creating a realistic model railway layout. Running for
almost 2 hours this programme is presented by accomplished modeller Barry Norman, well
known throughout the model railway hobby for his layouts Lydham Heath and Petherick and his
books, covering layout design and
landscaping.
In this first of two programmes Barry shows how he lays the basis for his excellent
model railway scenes. Beginning with researching of prototypes he explains the methods he
uses to find the details he will need for the completed model. He then describes how he
designs the layout to include the most interesting aspects of the prototype and show them
to their best effect.
Having designed the layout, he then sets about the more practical aspects of baseboard
construction and making landforms before laying, texturing, colouring and detailing the
landscape. Laying, painting and weathering the track area and fencing is covered and the
programme closes with a guided photographic tour of his two most well-known layouts.
Part 2, in Right Track DVD 6, completes the landscaping with trees, water and a country
lane.
