Presented by Tony Wright, well known for his work building and reviewing kits for British Railway Modelling, this DVD running for approx. 2 hours is a practical guide to kit building techniques.

This first programme covers the core building of the model from the kit parts. Three kits are illustrated, an Alan Gibson etched brass LMS 4F 0-6-0, a GWR 61xx 2-6-2T in white metal from South East Finecast and a DJH LNER A2 pacific 4-6-2. This allows Tony to demonstrate the different construction techniques needed with these different metals. In part 1 we see the kit components being prepared, followed by the assembly of the core sections of the model and a running chassis. Getting these basic sections right is the key to success as you proceed to finish your model locomotive.

Part 2 illustrates the addituion of detailing and assembly of finer detail parts including valve gear.

The second programme on locomotive kit construction presented by Tony Wright, this DVD runs for approx. 3 hours to cover the completion of a model locomotive.

The second programme picks up from the first DVD using the same three kits. The major pieces are formed and fitted together, then  the details are started. Chimneys, dones, handrails, pipes and fittings are added. The assembly of the external valve gear components of the A2 pacific is also demonstrated and explained. These are all the items which make your model a unique replica of the prototype.

This DVD has two sections forming a total 3 hour 15 minute programme covering painting, lettering and lining of model locomives and coaches.

Tony Wright presents the first section, covering some of the techniques used to alter ready-to-run models, such as renumbering and application of transfers. He then moves on to more extensive alterations, including repainting by using brush painting and aerosol paints.

Professional model painter Ian Rathbone presents the second section, coving the more advanced projects, including the preparation and painting of kit built locomotives, plus the use of an air brush for painting and weathering. Lining is covered in more detail, including BR, LMS and GWR locomotive lining, lining out coach sides, plus the manufacture of specific transfers to complete your model.

Tony Wright examines what can be done to make the high standard offerings from Hornby and Bachmann even better. He takes you through the many stages in the process of turning these excellent models into something a bit special. Modifications covered stretch from the most simple of improvements to the application of full detailing kits from Comet and Brassmasters.

Locomotives examined and improved in detail include a GWR County class 4-6-0, BR Britannia class pacific, LMS Black 5 4-6-0 and 0-6-0 Jinty, with many others featured.

Coach modifications include Pullman Cars, Gresley and Thompson conversions utilising etched brass components from Comet and Mike Trice/Dart Castings. Some coach conversions are so extensive that, if you are building coaches from kits this DVD would be of great interest to you.

The 3 hours 15 minutes programme is designed to appeal to everyone from the raw beginner to the more experienced.

This DVD is a practical guide to creating a realistic model railway layout. Running for almost 2 hours this programme is presented by accomplished modeller Barry Norman, well known throughout the model railway hobby for his layouts Lydham Heath and Petherick and his books, covering layout design and landscaping.

In this first of two programmes Barry shows how he lays the basis for his excellent model railway scenes. Beginning with researching of prototypes he explains the methods he uses to find the details he will need for the completed model. He then describes how he designs the layout to include the most interesting aspects of the prototype and show them to their best effect.

Having designed the layout, he then sets about the more practical aspects of baseboard construction and making landforms before laying, texturing, colouring and detailing the landscape. Laying, painting and weathering the track area and fencing is covered and the programme closes with a guided photographic tour of his two most well-known layouts.

Part 2, in Right Track DVD 6, completes the landscaping with trees, water and a country lane.

This DVD is a practical guide to finishing the landscaping of your model railway. A programme of approx. 2 hours is presented by accomplished modeller Barry Norman, well known throughout the model railway hobby for his layouts of Lydham Heath and Petherick. His books, covering layout design and landscaping are highly regarded guides to producing a realistic setting for your models.

In this second landscape modelling DVDs, Barry Norman continues on from Right Track 5, dressing the landscape with trees, hedges, roads, lanes and water effects. He demonstrates how he creates these details by modelling a country lane, shows how he forms a cart track, hedges and a cornfield. The texture and colouring of these elements is important and he explains the methods he uses to make superb model landscapes.

Modelling water is one of the most challenging of subjects and Barry explains how he goes about forming ponds and small rivers, carefully selecting materials and colours to give the best effect.

The many types of tree in the countryside require different approaches and Barry models deciduous trees, pine trees and a winter tree. Starting with the basic elements, he creates some most realistic models. He then goes on to show how he formed a pine forest for his Lydham Heath layout.

A major inspiration for Barry has been the Pendon Museum in Oxfordshire and this DVD includes two sections based upon this magnificent EM gauge model as Barry takes you on a tour of the layout.

Accomplished architectural modeller Geoff Taylor joins the team of Right Track presenters to bring you a useful and informative programme on modelling buildings. Geoff demonstrates the methods and techniques he uses to contsructs the most realistic model buildings.
