The MiG-19PM is a further modified version of the MiG-19 series of aircraft. Based on the MiG-19S, radar and other equipment was added to enable the fighter, with its main attack missiles, to execute day and night flying missions in poor weather conditions. The maiden flight of the prototype was in January 1956 with full production starting the following year. A total of about 400 was produced in the former Soviet Union. NATO nicknamed the aircraft `Farmer-E'
