Superb detail abounds in this kit from Trumpeter including engine detail, folding wings and sprung landing gear.
With an approximate length of 380mm and a wingspan of 499mm it is big and impressive and markings are included for an aircraft of the Japanese carrier Akagi during the attack on Pearl Harbour.
The second production version of this famous aircraft the type 21 was fully navalised with arrestor hook and folding wings and after initial testing 15 aircraft went to China for combat trials with its first recorded action occuring on August 19th 1940.Superseded in October 1942 by the A6M3 many type 21's were to end their operational lives as Kamikaze suicide aircraft in the latter stages of WW2. | |
