WZ-10 Attack Helicopter prototype made it's first flight in 2003. The first attack helicopter designed for the Chinese army the WZ-10s' primary role is anti-tank and infantry support, but has a secondary air-to-air capability. The WZ-10 has a standard structure for attack helicopters, the narrow fuselage accommodating a tandem cockpit with the WSO in front and pilot at rear. The diamond-shaped fuselage cross-section can reduce the radar signature and all important areas are protected by armour.
The prototype of the WZ-10 was fitted with two Pratt & Whitney PT-6C-67C turboshaft engines, later replaced by two Chinese-built WZ-9 engines. The helicopter may be equipped with a Fly-By Wire system and helmet, head up display, optoelectronic devices and forward-looking infrared systems, radar and laser warning receivers, infrared jammers and decoy launching system.
