The G38 was the largest landplane of its time. On 6th November 1929 the Junkers chief pilot Zimmermann took it on its maiden flight and was surprised by its outstanding flying characteristics. From the summer of 1931 the G38 flew with 30 passengers on the Berlin-Hannover-Amsterdam-London route. As a special attraction, the glazed leading edge of the wing was equipped with 6 seats. The success of this luxuriously appointed "giant aircraft" soon impelled Lufthansa to build a second one. The number of passengers was increased to 32. The G38 quickly became the popular and attractive flagship of the Deutsche Lufthansa AG and its worth was well proved in use. The G38 D-APIS remained in long-haul service with Lufthansa until the start of World War II. The G38 was a peak achievement of German aircraft design in its time and an important development for long-haul transport.

On 1st April 2005, the anniversary of the resumption of flying operations 50 years ago, Lufthansa presented an Airbus A321-100 to the public in a special livery. This Airbus wears the traditional colours of the fifties and will fly in these colours for a few years. The Airbus A321-100 is a stretch variant of the short-to-medium range Airbus A320, but with a higher seating capacity, greater cargo volume and lower operating costs per passenger. The first aircraft of this type was delivered to Lufthansa on 27th January 1994. The aircraft has room for 182 passengers and a range of 4,200 km. Equipped with two International Aero Engines V2530-A5 type engines, it reaches a cruising speed of 840 km/h.

The F/A-18 Hornet is one of the most versatile carrier-borne fighter aircraft and has been in use for over 20 years. It is mainly in active service with the US Navy and US Marine Corps, but the Canadian Air Force also operates this type.

The Russian Ka-50 is primarily designed for close-support, but also for air combat applications. Conceived as a unique single-seat combat helicopter, it is equipped with a coaxial contra-rotating double rotor and is heavily armoured.

The AH-64D Longbow Apache is currently the most advanced, the most versatile and the most powerfully armed combat helicopter in the world. The Tomcat has long been one of the legendary combat aircraft of the US Navy and is one of the latest carrier-borne weapons platforms. Production of the F-14D began in March 1990 and included upgraded electronics, a new on-board radar system and modifications to the avionics. This most powerful version of the F-14 is capable of carrying extensive external loads, such as the AIM-54 Phoenix and AIM-120 AMRAAM. Top speed Mach 2.34.

The high-set swept V-shaped wing is a typical characteristic of this four-engined short range jet airliner. This high-wing aircraft with its unusually spacious fuselage seats between 85 and 100 passengers. A maximum range of 2,600 km and a speed akin to that of turboprops predestines this jet for regional routes into smaller airports.

The Airbus A380 is currently both the largest and the most up-to-date passenger aircraft in the world and also the first commercial airliner to have two full-length passenger decks.
